Meet Cody Trembecki
Age 11
Premature Birth, Tracheostomy Surgery
Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation
Many refer to Cody as an “old soul.” Having already triumphed over many life-threatening obstacles, this brave young man is a testament to determination. His challenges started early.
Born three months premature and weighing just over a pound, Cody was unable to breathe on his own. After living for more than five years with a tracheostomy and enduring two surgeries to rebuild his windpipe from cartilage and bone grafts from his ribs, Cody is now doing great.
“Thanks to an army of doctors, nurses, physical therapists and other hospital staff at Alberta Children’s Hospital, our adorable boy is here with us today,” reflects his mom.
Today, Cody is enjoying life as a “typical” kid who enjoys soccer, swimming and playing with Legos. His mom and dad are incredibly grateful to the Alberta Children’s Hospital. “Not only did they save Cody’s life, they taught us how to be his parents,” says Cody’s mom.
