Calgary, Alberta
Right now, 82 thousand kids and families – one in four kids in Calgary and thousands more from across the province and the country – rely on help from our hospital every year.
We are fortunate to live in a community which has embraced the Alberta Children’s Hospital for over 90 years. Thanks to that generosity, our hospital is helping children and families from across Alberta, southwestern Saskatchewan, southeastern BC and across the country.
Donor support for the Alberta Children's Hospital helps provide kids with the best family centred care possible right in our own community. These gifts are invested in the best child health programs, specialized life-saving equipment, and advanced pediatric research and education at our hospital and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute for Child and Maternal Health.
Our hospital’s pillars of excellence are:
· Childhood Cancer
· Brain Health
· Life-saving Care
Brain Health. Since illness and injury of the brain in childhood can have serious lifelong effects, the Alberta Children’s Hospital has made brain health a priority. Thanks to community support, the Alberta Children’s Hospital has the unprecedented opportunity to provide national and international leadership in Brain Health. We have assembled a team of nationally and internationally-recognized medical, surgical and research specialists which is already providing national and international leadership in many pivotal areas within pediatric neurosciences, including:
· Epilepsy
· pediatric stroke
· minimally-invasive brain surgery
· dietary and metabolic treatments for neurological diseases
· behavioral research
We are setting our sights on improving care - and are determined to develop novel treatments which can prevent, minimize and even reverse the damaging effects of brain-related impairments and disease in children. Ultimately, your support of Brain Health at the Alberta Children’s Hospital will help develop crucial new knowledge and more effective therapies that will benefit children and adults in our community and around the globe.
